Hubble Telescope

One of the most important telescopes in the history of astronomy, the Hubble telescope has allowed observers continue to peer into the universe than any previous telescope. By moving outside and above the Earth’s atmosphere, the Hubble telescope capable of visual data has to be seen more clearly than a terrestrial telescope, and there was much to look further into the ultraviolet and infrared spectra as well as these spectra are largely absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere. Thus, by moving the observation platform in the open space, the Hubble telescope has given a much clearer picture of the Universe, allowing scientists to peer deeper into space.

The Hubble Telescope is for Edwin Hubble, the astronomer who originally found that the universe is expanding named. This discovery, made one of the foundations of modern astronomy and cosmology, Hubble is an excellent choice for the honor of this telescope named after him.

The concept for the Hubble Space Telescope was originally the brainchild of Lyman Spitzer back in 1946. He saw clearly that the Earth-based telescopes by nature in their ability to see into the sky, limited as dust, clouds, and even disturbed turbulence in the atmosphere, with the telescopes’ clarity meant. What, that the best way to get a clear picture of a telescope with a telescope, which was in orbit around the Earth.

After some minor success with the Orbiting Astronomical Observatory, the plan for a large scale telescope was born. There were a few gasps, but not usually take off due to budget constraints, and the project really until 1970 and the funding was not approved until 1978. Then, with the funding available, plans were made to launch the Hubble Telescope in 1983. Due to various delays, it was not actually launched until 1990.

After a few initial problems, the Hubble telescope finally started returning clear pictures. And these pictures were worth the trouble. The Hubble telescope was able to achieve a sharpness and resolution, the unimaginable with a standard ground-based telescope, crisp images, which showed not only details in new areas of known space, but also look deeper into space than ever before. And with these new images, the astronomers in a position to new and exciting information about our universe have discovered.

It is not just the astronomers in the pictures, the Hubble telescope has been produced are astonished. In fact, the Hubble images of pleasure for all of their own perspective. Clearly defined by the galaxies to images of nebulae, the Apollo 15 landing site has been exciting for so Hubble for the audience as well as scientists.

When the Hubble telescope age, his future is uncertain. Corrective software allows ground-based telescopes to pick up a large part of the information so far on only one space telescope. And as NASA retool itself to follow its mandate to take a man to Mars, is the money spent to service the Hubble would be spent elsewhere. But before the Hubble telescope into the atmosphere sometime in 2010, it will provide a remarkable insight into the universe and everything in it.
